Name/Work Name: Korra | Mahk
Canon: The Legend of Korra
Canon Point: End of Season Two
AU/CRAU: No
Age: 18
History:
Korra was born in the Southern Water Tribe and it was here that she was discovered by the White Lotus as the next Avatar. From an early age she had control over Water, Fire, and Earth bending, proving herself to be quite skilled with all three. She later move to Republic City to begin training under the air bender Tenzin, son of the former avatar Aang, and it was here that her life kind of took a dramatic turn.

Upon her arrival in Republic City, Korra discovered that Equalists were becoming quite a big threat in the city, many people joining the anti-bending movement out of fear and anger towards benders that they claimed oppressed them. Lead by the individual known as Amon, who had the ability to take away a person's bending, Republic City was thrown into a chaotic mess. Korra, along with her new allies Bolin, Mako, and Asami, attempted to thwart Amon's plans though it wasn't an easy task, especially not with Amon's brother Tarrlok got involved and made everything much more difficult for Korra in the long run. She soon discovered that Tarrlok was a blood bender and that Amon, who was actually a water bender despite his claims at being a non-bender, could blood bend as well. She was finally able to expose Amon for what he was and, while he and his brother did escape, Tarrlok caused the boat they were using to get away to explode, killing both brothers in the process.

Korra did not escape unscathed, having lost her bending due to Amon's abilities though she gained air bending in the process. After traveling home, she was able to connect with the past Avatars and it was Aang who then restored her bending, allowing her to restore the bending of others who had lost it as well.

Oh, and she started dating Mako, who had been dating Asami but actually really liked Korra and it was just kind of awkward and sucky for Asami.

Six months later, after obtaining the Avatar State and restoring bending to all those that had lost it, Korra again found herself in the midst of trouble. Having traveled with her friends to the Southern Water Tribe to attend the Glacier Spirits Festival, she became aware of dark spirits that were rampaging through the South. Her uncle Unalaq was able to calm the spirits and agreed to train Korra and allow her to find a deeper connection with the spirits. This prompted a fight between Korra and Tenzin, leading to Tenzin and his family leaving for their vacation after Korra told him she didn't want him as her mentor any longer.

Manipulated by her uncle, Korra opened the Southern Spirit Portal. Soon after Unalaq showed his true colors as Northern Water Tribe Troops began to invade the South, taking over the tribe as a means to 'protect the southern portal'. This prompted a civil war to start, which Korra was quick to join despite her being the Avatar who was suppose to be a neutral party, because this was her home and her tribe that was at risk. It turned out that Unalaq was just an all around horrible person and had been manipulating everyone for quite some time. With the help of Varrick, Korra, Bolin, Mako, and Asami were able to flee the South with plans to head to Republic City to get help for the Southern Water Tribe. Unfortunately, the Civil War in the south had already started to effect the capital and getting help was much easier said than done, what with the President not at all inclined to offer assistance. Korra made plans to travel to the Fire Nation but was attacked by a dark spirit along the way and lost all of her memories.

She washed up on a fire nation island and found by sages from Bhanti Village Temple, who took her back to their head sage who went to work to restore Korra's memories. It was during this healing process that Korra learned the origins of the Avatar spirit, learning about the original avatar Wan and the spirit Raava. With her memories and powers restored, Korra headed off to find Tenzin and his family, knowing now what her uncle was up to and why he wanted so badly to open up the Northern Spirit Portal as well. From here, the real fight began as it was a race against time to stop Unalaq from freeing the spirit known as Vaatu and despite losing her connection to the spirit Raava, Korra was able to once more imprison Vaatu and restore balance between the worlds.

Once the threat was gone, Korra was left with the decision to either close the spirit portals or leave them open. She opted to leave them open, allowing the living world and the spirit world to truly co-exist and find balance and harmony once more.

Personality:
Life has a way of really changing people; developing them and shaping them into their true selves and Korra is no exception to this rule, even being the Avatar. Having started out as a rather brash and impulsive individual, Korra has matured quite a bit since the start of her true journey as Avatar. She's gone from being nothing more than a teenager with too much power to a young woman who knows what she has to do and is willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish it. Thinking things through is something she takes a lot more time with now, having had far too many mishaps in terms of mistakes to want to let anymore happen.

Now, despite this maturity that Korra has gone through, there are still quite a few aspects of her old self that are still there and will probably always be there; first and foremost being her temper. Korra doesn't take kindly to others threatening her or those she cares about and she doesn't like to be pushed around in any sort of manner. She's very prone to reacting with a blast of air or slap of water rather than trying to work things out civilly. She's extremely passionate about what she believes in, likes, and loves, and will not hesitate to fight for these ideals. Korra doesn't take kindly to people trying to oppress others nor does she take kindly to others using their powers against those that have none or are generally just weaker, upholding the ideals of the Avatar even if she's a little more brute force about it sometimes.

There's a level of immaturity that Korra still hasn't quite outgrown that lingers there and sometimes affects how she handles situations. She can be extremely stubborn if things don't go her way or if someone tries to tell her that she doesn't know what she's doing, wanting to prove them wrong and show everyone that she does know what she's doing. And while she does try, generally she isn't thinking things through as well as she should be which can tend to lead to bad situations for our dear Avatar. Like any teenager, listening to adults is something she takes with a grain of salt at times though she is getting better about it, especially when it comes to individuals like Tenzin.

Even with all these minor faults that she's working on and that are completely normal for someone her age, Korra is an extremely focused individual most of the time. She knows what she's fighting for and doesn't like to see others hurt or degraded just for the sake of someone else's rise to power. She cares a lot about all of those around her and will do what she can to help, even if she isn't completely sure it will solve the issue. Trying is what counts though, right? Deep down, Korra wants nothing more than to right all the wrongs in the world but she knows it's not as simple as it sounds and she has a long way to go to be the Avatar everyone knows that she can be. With recent events, she has started to really take the reigns for her role more and is learning to make decisions not only based on what past Avatars might of done but based on what she truly thinks is the right path to take. (And guidance from Tenzin and the others definitely has been helping now that she's more accepting of it.)

One thing about Korra that has definitely changed since she started her journey is her spiritual side. Prior to really coming to understand what it meant to be the Avatar, Korra didn't really understand just how important it was to be connected to her past and those around her and those in the spirit realm. Losing her powers took a toll on her and truly destroyed the confidence she had in herself though it was in that moment of weakness, in that moment of loss, that Korra was able to open herself to the spiritual side of what being the Avatar was truly about. To this day she holds on tight to the beliefs and ideals she's learned from those around her and the past Avatars as well, knowing that if she's going to continue fighting the good fight, she has to hold strong to them.

Without the connection to the past Avatars, Korra has really started to learn how to find herself as a person and not simply a comparison to the others that have come before her, showing off her true strengths and even her weaknesses that are all her. Not having them is difficult, and lonely in a way, and now, more than ever, she's truly on her own with trying to figure out what to do--no longer having memories of times before her will do that to a person--but it's something that she's learning to adapt to. It's also helping her learn to put her trust in her friends and those close to her, allowing her to show more of her true self to them and share her feelings more easily.

Ultimately, she wants nothing more than to show the world that she can be the peace keeper that the Avatar is meant to be, even if she goes about it a little unconventionally at times.

Debt: Korra wants nothing more than to set things right after all the misfortune that happened because of the spirit world almost consuming the mortal world. Her wish is to fix all the damage that was done and set things right.

Suitability: Having been used, rather recently, by a family member in an attempt to basically end the world, Korra won't take kindly to being tricked into anything. She'll do what she has to do but not without attempting to find a way to get free and get back home. And save others in the process.

Previous Game Info: N/A

Inventory:
+Clothing: Her clothing is usually some variation of the usual Water Tribe garb, her most common apparel being a light blue sleeveless shirt with a medium height collar, blue pants made of a thick and warm material, two different waist wraps--one made of fur and hide and the other of a dark blue material, fur lined boots, an upper armband, and two forearm bands. She also had her warmer jacket with her as well--a fur lined jacket with a hood with 3/4 sleeves.

Abilities, Strengths, and Weaknesses:
+Bending: Korra is what is known as a bender; an individual capable of controlling an element--or in Korra's case all four--and use said element as means of protection, a fighting style, general use, etc. Having been born in the Water Tribe, Korra's main element is water and it's the element that she is most proficient with. Fire and Earth were the next ones she was able to master and came to her easiest, most likely because she does have quite a few characteristics that make her quite fire like and earth like. Air was much harder for her to obtain control over and even now she's still honing her skills with it but she can control all four now.

+Avatar State: Like past Avatars, she is able to go into something called the Avatar State which allows her to channel vast cosmic energies and the knowledge of previous Avatars, enabling them to perform especially powerful and extraordinary bending feats. This can happen either unconsciously, if Korra is in the face of extreme danger, or consciously, though this is only possible if the Avatar has completely mastered the Avatar State and their abilities. If they haven't, they really have no control over the Avatar state. Luckily, Korra does know how to control this state.

+Raava: Raava is a great spirit, one of peace and light, that fused with the first Avatar, Wan, creating what became known as "The Avatar Spirit", which is passed on from Avatar to Avatar. She is one of the oldest known spirits, having existed for ten thousand lifetimes prior to the appearance of humans. She has been the source of the Avatar's ability to bend all four elements, and the Avatar's connection with their past lives since first fusing with Wan and if the Avatar should, at any point, lose their connection with Raava, they will no longer be able to carry out their duties as the Avatar.

+Spirit Wrangling: For the lack of a better term for it, Korra is able to capture and soothe spirits, turning them from evil to good via a calming process she was taught by her uncle. As the Avatar, she is something of a bridge between the spirit world and the living world, making it easier for her to connect and communicate with spirits, which is why she can easily calm them now, after having practiced the technique over time.

+Spirit World: As the Avatar, Korra is able to enter the spirit world through meditation, though having someone to guide her in generally does help the process along quite a bit. This only works if there is a spirit world to enter so it may or may not apply in her new location. Being in the spirit world does leave her physical body at risk for being harmed and if her spirit does not return, her body will start to shut down.

Absently rubbing at the odd wrist communicator thing that she'd been given, Korra slowly wandered the streets of the odd town she'd found herself in, trying to make sense of all of this. She was alone, and that in itself was something she didn't very much appreciate, but nothing was familiar; not even in the slightest. This place didn't look like any of the nations that she was aware of and it was a lot more..advanced, in a way, than even Republic City was.

And there was an odd feel to the place, something that made her skin crawl a bit.

Stopping and glancing over her shoulder as she felt like she was being watched, Korra hesitated a moment before the wind around her spiraled and lifted her up to one of the rooftops, giving her--what she thought--might be something of an advantage. She lingered on her feet for a moment before sinking down to sit, taking a deep breath as everything kind of caught up with her for a moment.

"This can't be a good thing," she muttered as her head spun a bit and she forced herself to take a deep breath. "Could be the spirit realm--" Glancing around a bit, her shoulders slumped. "--a really...weird part of the spirit realm?"

Yeah, it was a good try but definitely not likely.

A hand slid back into her hair while the other wrapped around her knees and drew them up to her chest, the Avatar taking a few deep breaths as she collected herself.

"I'll figure this out. There has to be some sort of clue or something...a way home even," Korra murmured to herself, hand dropping from her hair as she glanced around again. If Tenzin were there, he'd tell her to stop doubting herself; to embrace her fears and use them to find her strength. "I can't let being alone stop me," she murmured again, a bit more of a determined edge to her voice and, after one more deep breath, she rocked forward and pushed up to her feet, hands going to her hips. "I can do this. I can figure this place out!"

What's the worst that could happen after all?
